Blame, Cause, and Counterfactuals: The Inextricable Link
In this response to Malle, Guglielmo, and Monroe's (2014) proposed theory of blame, we argue that blame judgments may be part of a dynamic, bi-directional, iterative process that depends on counterfactual thinking and causal reasoning.
