From the game in Minneapolis to North Grounds, the University of Virginia School of Law community cheered on the men’s basketball team during a historic Final Four run en route to a national championship Monday.
Dean Risa Goluboff, Vice Dean Leslie Kendrick ’06 and UVA President Jim Ryan ’92 were in Minneapolis to watch the Cavaliers’ thrilling 85-77 overtime win over Texas Tech for UVA’s first NCAA crown in the sport. Staff, students and alumni back in Charlottesville donned blue and orange, and took to social media to root on the home team from afar.
“I often talk about how we at UVA should strive to be both great and good in all we do,” Ryan, a former UVA Law professor, told Virginia Athletics before the title game. “This team is a perfect example of what that means. They know how to win and, just as importantly, how to win the right way.”
